ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF INSTRUCTION-MINERALOGY / PETROLOGY, THE UNIVERSITY OF AKRON

The University of Akron, OH is enhancing its teaching strengths in the Department of Geosciences by opening a non-tenure track position in mineralogy/petrology (job# 11999). At present, there are 100 geology and environmental science undergraduate majors who are required to take mineralogy.  Candidates must possess Ph.D. (or ABD with a previously earned Masters in geosciences) in the geosciences and have the ability to teach courses in mineralogy and petrology.  We expect candidates to demonstrate the ability to teach introductory-level earth science courses (Physical Geology, general education courses) and summer Geology Field Camp.  We also expect successful candidates to develop field-based experiences for these undergraduate courses.  In addition to strong abilities in teaching, we anticipate that successful candidates will have records of scholarship.
