The University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Atmospheric Science. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science or in an Atmospheric science-related discipline. Preference will be given to applicants with postdoctoral research experience, as well as, to candidates with research interests in mountain meteorology, meteorological applications in support of renewable energy production, land-atmosphere coupling, eddy-mean flow dynamics, dynamics of extreme weather and climate events, and feedbacks between atmospheric circulation and trace gases, aerosols, and/or clouds. The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in atmospheric dynamics and synoptic meteorology. Opportunity may exist for occasionally teaching courses in the Physics curriculum as well. The candidate will establish a vigorous research program that complements our ongoing efforts. Start-up funds will be provided.
The graduate program in Atmospheric Science was established in 1965 as a partnership between UNR and the Desert Research Institute, and the undergraduate program was established in 2005.
