POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE, RADIONUCLIDE GEOCHEMISTY TEAM, LOS ALAMOS NATIONAL LABORATORY

What You Will Do
The Radionuclide Geochemistry Team within the Earth Systems Observation Group (EES-14) group in the Earth and Environmental Sciences (EES) Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral research associate. We seek a geochemist with expertise in clays and colloids to help expand our work in clay swelling, colloid formation and transport, electrokinetic properties of colloids, and hydrothermal transformation of clays. This work will support applications related to the performance assessment of engineered barriers associated with spent nuclear fuel. We seek candidates with broad research interests, who are enthusiastic about laboratory work and creative problem solving/innovation. You will be expected to publish results in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and present your work at conferences. The term of the appointment is two (2) years, with the option to extend to a third year depending on performance and funding availability.

What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals

Education/Experience: Ph.D. in Earth and Environmental science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related disciplines

Location: This position will be physically located in Los Alamos.

Candidates may be considered for a Director's Fellowship and outstanding candidates may be considered for the prestigious J. Robert Oppenheimer, Richard P. Feynman, or Frederick Reines Fellowships. Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
